  1. Myth says that the word "Roma" comes from a couple of twins named Romolo and Remo; who were abandoned by their mother(a goddes) and breast-feeded by a female wolf; when they grew up they founded the city of Rome, which is a mix of their names, and the wolf has remained the symbol of the city. So, The romans are named this way because they live in Rome!

  2. lol what a funny question...

the story tells that two twins fought to "edificate" Rome and their names were "romolo" and "remo". romolo (in 753 a.d.) won over his bro who died....and it's after remo that he named the city Roma....so it's the romans that have been named after the city :)

the name, tho' come probably from the greek word RòME (with stressed o) that means strength.

There are other 1997479348702343545577 possible  reasons for the name...these two r the most famous ones.

    gd luck with ur project,

    tc!

  3. Roman or Romans may refer to:

A thing or person of or from the city of Rome.

  4. romulus and remus, folks.

  5. Must the people thinks that "Roma" takes his name from one of the twins Romolo, but probably it come from the Etruscan word that means "ford".

One thing is sure, nobody can assure exactly you what would you know, neither the ancient romans citizens :)

  6. Hi

    1) Romans come from ROME

    2) I have another version about the origin of the name ROME; I must disagree from you, my dear Agidò

at that time, Latins didn't have any contact with Greeks, so your source is wrong

The origin of Rome probably is from RUMA, an Etruscan (people at that time living in the North of Rome) term meaning "breast", COW BREAST to be more specific.

Probably because the place where Rome was built: a plane land with 7 hills

  7. the Romans are named afet Rome.

  8. Romans are so named because they come from the City of Rome. Italy was made up of many cities and areas, not united but in competition with each other. Rome, ie the Romans felt superior to all others. If fact, they may have been more advanced.
