My new mother gerbil is digging and tunneling like she would normally do if she didn't have the babies. Is this normal? Will she hurt the babies? Occasionally she has psuhed them with her back feet but never rejected them or hurt them.

  1. Gerbils are very good parents.

Its more than likely that she is just moving the nesting site.

Don't worry over it too much. =) She'll take care of the pups just fine.

  2. It is very normal.  She is just making a new nest for the babies.  There may have been too much urination around her nest, that she wanted a new clean one.  I hope this helps.

  3. totally normal, she is renesting them. if there is too much f***s from her or urin she will move them to a cleaner place.

  4. 100% normal, rodents do that anyway. Even if they are not mothers. My hamster does this and he's a boy.

    Its really normal!

  5. No need to worry. Its normal. My gerbil did that to.
