I offered it corn but it wouldn't eat it. Then I offered it raisins, pellets and small bits of cheese. Still rather have the sunflower seeds. What should I do?!

  1. Give your gerbil a gerbil food mix.

Rodents like sunflower seeds because they are fatty and tasty, it's just like junk food to them. If they only eat that, they will get fat and won't get all the nutrients they require. Just put enough food to feed your gerbil and I can assure you it won't let itself starve to death if it doesn't get sunflower seeds only.

  2. I thought my gerbil did that too, but just leave their food in the cage until it's almost empty. Obviously all the sunflower seeds will be gone quickly and they have no other choice but to eat other things. Or just take the sunflower seeds out and give them to him as treats sparingly.

  3. at first, my new dwarf hamster did exactly tht

i would offer him diff. foods, but he would only take the sunflowers

but if the sunflowers run out, im sure he will eat his other food

    hope this helps u :)

  4. Just leave the other foods in there, and when the sunflower seeds are gone don't give him any more. He'll eat the rest when he gets hungry enough.

  5. Only Leave things he wont eat in his cage.  Eventually he will get hungry and eat it.  You can give him sunflower seeds for treats.

  6. well maby he just like it u should keep trying to give him different foods that really good
