My gerbils are fighting?

i put my girl gerbil with my new boy and i seperated them with a plastic lid with tiny holes for ten minutes. then i removed the lid and they started sniffing eachother. then five minutes later they attacked eachother. and idk wat to do.... please help me :[

What you should do is return the boy and get a female gerbil. And learn how to properly introduce them... you don't just throw new animals together. Stop trying to backyard breed.
