there seems to be a 50/50 split on buying a mobile home....some say its a good idea some say its not...im military so i could be transferred at any time...the good news...the military will move it for me provided the home is safe to move. we are just sick of living in an apt...all the stupid rules and what not...but we also dont wanna s***w ourselves... i know mobile homes depreciate which is nice for us since i get X amount of dollars per month and we could buy at 20,000 dollar trailer and be ALOT cheaper for the mortgage then our apt is per month...what are peoples opinion???

  1. Buy some land at a nice place, and go for it. Just dont buy 1 of those small mobile homes in a bad place.

  2. You can get some great deals on a pre-owned mobile home.  It may be the best solution for your situation.  The only thing I would say, is definitely do not buy it brand new, but you already know that

  3. I never liked these as the land rent was always so high that it never seemed like you could make any money off these.  Still, you probably should not buy since you may be moved away at any time.  Also, it does seem like you will end up with maybe a better place and less hassle.  Are you sure that with the land rent it will still be cheaper than renting?  If so, then this may be just the solution for you - it won't make you rich but it may save you some money over your current situation.
