Also... no snake is poisonous. They are venomous.

A good way to know the difference is:

Venomous: Bad if IT bites YOU

Poisonous: Bad if YOU bite IT

1.  what does it matter where you gf is from??

2.  any other info on the snake...shape of the head - length of the snake - any markings (orange and grey rings or orange and grey stripes....)

So where was the snake seen? In the Phillippines or somewhere else? If it was in the U.S., there is nothing venomous that matches that description. Google "ringneck snake" and "redbellied snake" and see if it isn't one of those if it's in the U.S.
