No ones gonna be looking much at the flowerd anyway, theyd have to be paying very much attention to notice they're fake!

I guess its ok for a beginner.Not bad at all.

If you shorten the stems they will look much better and more full.

Try to make the top follow an umbrella shape. So taller to shorter on the sides.

If the stems are not wrapped they will look more real and less 80's.

edit: sorry, just read your edit. i think that those flowers will do just fine. they look real ( i didn't even notice they were fake until i read the other answers ). your right about the cost, though. my sister spent wayy too much money on flowers for her wedding. its ridiculous how much they can add up!
