  1. should be back within 10 days, a while back they took along time to send em' through for some reason.

  2. If she has never had a passport before she would need to go in for an interview. You have posted on the Brighton site so i guess you live there, i believe that the nearest place in which she would have to attend for an interview is Crawley, the office is right by the train station.

I would personally get your girlfriend to call up the passport office and find out where in the process her application is and then you'll have an idea on how long its going to take.

  3. it should be, if you are worried, you can call them (the passport office) and go down to the Office itself!

  4. they have said today they may go on strike.

  5. Maybe, good luck.  Mine came back in two weeks.

  6. i dont think they will due to industrial action i am aware of a backlog of applications and at the minute as far as i am aware they are running several weeks behind so i would keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best i would honestly be surprised if it is back in time thats why they say allow 3 months to apply for a passport application to allow for such things that do go wrong etc good luck hope it is sorted in time for ya or you will be going alone lol.

  7. Well they are striking for 3 days at the passport office. So there might be a backlog but I would have thought that 6 weeks should be fine! If not you'll need to go up to Victoria and queue!! Have a good holiday!!

  8. yea don't worry about it

    she'll get it in time

  9. Possibly not, but the new passport laws state that as long as you can show proof of application for a passport, you should be OK to travel abroad if it still hasn't come when you leave.  At least, that's true for travel to Mexico.  I would imagine it's the same for any international travel.

  10. shouldn't take more than 3 weeks.

  11. Probably. For a passport renewal the normal service turnaround time is 3 weeks, but for a first passport the IPS say they may take 6 weeks since they may need to interview the applicant, so she's just about applied in time. Of course, if there's a spate of strikes in the passport office, all bets are off.

  12. no i don't think so

  13. maybe, any one over 16 applying for a first time passport has to have an interview, so that on top of the strike it could be bad news.

  14. Yes I should think so, 10 - 14 days is the norm especially if it has been checked before posting by the post office.

  15. maybeeee, it's possible.

mine came in about a month, a little less.

  16. yes, as long as everything is okay.  They are much more picky about the photo these days, so it's usually worth getting the whole thing checked first at the Post Office.

  17. no i don't think so, you really have to allow longer

  18. Usually yes, but I heard the passport people may be striking for 3 days?! Although, if they do I think she may still get it back in time.

I recently got mine for the first time and it took at most 2 - 3 weeks to arrive
