I have been a permanent resident and have lived in Los Angeles for 43 years (all my life). I have been working in banking for the past 10 years. My girlfriend is a doctor in Panama. I am a citizen of Mexico and have a Mexican passport if that makes any difference.

  1. You need to become a citizen first (after all this time, why aren't you?) and then the process is easier.  However, if you do not want to be a US citizen, it will take more than three years to get the visa.  Either way, you need to file an I-130.  The wait is less than a year for a citizen to bring a fiance or spouse into the US.
