My girlfriend is pregnant and not working but was denied food assistance..?

and yes she is pregnant.. My girlfriend was denied food stamps because i said yes when asked if me and my girlfriend cooked, ate, and bought food together. Well duh she's not working rite. i do work, but only make $11.25 an hour, with what i have left over from paying the bills i do buy food for us but theirs not much left some times almost none and we have to ask others. they never asked us that. to see if we had enough. We stay with my sister and brother in law but help pay mortgage $450 a month plus $50 electric and various other bills and things we need . I don't believe she should of been denied after the interview because since were not legally married i was told my income shouldn't matter for her that's why she didn't receive cash assistance. which wasn't what we intended for in the first place we were just looking to get food assistance for awhile until the baby comes and she's able to actually work. What should i do? how should i do it? anyone who knows anything your advice and help is much needed. Thanks..

As painful and insensitive as this may sound, maybe you should have thought about that before you and your girlfriend got pregnant.  As much as i hope you are able to work things out, for the sake of the baby, why do you believe that it's the role of the government to pay for your decision?  If you can't afford to take care of a baby, then maybe you shouldn't be making them.  

Have you considered getting another job?  How about going to some church organizations to see if they can offer some assistance?

They can't deny her for you helping her! I would have her call back and demand to speak to a supervisor. That makes absolutely no sense! But then again, its our government.. so nothing should be a huge shocker! I would have her call and demand the assistance! Sounds as though you would qualify income wise, and if they say they need you to verify you don't help her, then I would tell them whatever they want to hear in order for you to get some assistance.

What kind of assistance was it? She should be able to get WIC

You should have thought about that before you got her pregnant. She and the baby are your responsibility, not ours. Why do you think the rest of us owe it to you and her to support them? If you can't afford to take care of a family, then don't make one. You want some advice? Get another job.

PS: My wife worked until she was 9 mos pregnant. Is there a reason your girlfriend can't work as well?

does the food stamps know that ur gf is pregnant??? she should not be denied.. or they denie you and then send you a card a week later ... call your worker and they tell you why you are denied on the paper... call them and ***** them out... let them know that shes pregnant and that shes not working and say that she buys her own food you just let her live there .... there strict on that ****.

if she is living with you - then your income does matter - plus if the state finds that even though she is pregnant - if she can still work but is not actively looking for a job then they will deny assitance

This doesn't make any sense..sorry..it just doesnt. She alone would get assistance because she's not working and if she's entitled being she's from there. THAT'S LAW. I really am questioning your rant to be very honest. Also...if you make under a certain amount (and you sound like you do) you should easily beable to get food stamps.

I personally think you should go back and try to talk to someone else. Or have her GO ALONE as a single mother to be. You did the right thing by going with her being a man and doing your job as a soon to be father...but your gov is awfully cheap right now because its fighting a war and subsidising arms contractors with your tax dollars.
