  1. VCD = Video Compact Disc.  Most DVD players CAN play them.

The directory structure of the files is different, so they will not be recognized as DVDs, and the DVD player has to be able to navigate to the ".MPG" files on the disc.  But, a DVD player should be able to play the files.

The encoding format of VCDs is MPEG-1, while DVDs are encoded in MPEG-2 (the person who said that VCDs are MPEG and DVDs are not is incorrect).

The second source below shows a list of 4,453 DVD players and which ones can play VCDs (as well as other formats), listed 50 per page.

  2. VCD means Video CD.  It has a lower quality than DVD.

It can be played in your computer.   Asia countries still using VCD.

  3. check your regional code of youre dvd if you can set it in all region code maybe u can watch that movies. vcd is video compact disk  u can play your movies in your personal computer or else convert it in mpeg.

  4. On the PC. My VCDs work fine on PC.

VCD are formatted in MPEG format and they are NOT DVD. VCD is just a regular CD with video file in it.

  5. because some dvds can only play on DVD players from countries there from sometimes.

its some compatible c**p that i dont want to bother typing out.

    but basically.

dvds from your country play in your country ONLY

DVD from other country dont play in your country.
