My girlfriend may be pregnant..would taking a physical exam tell her if she is or not?

The title pretty much explains it.

she was supposed to start her period 5 days ago and she hasn't started it...and we had unprotected s*x a week ago.

she is going in for a physical exam on Friday with her mom and she doesnt want her to find out this way if she is or not..

would a Physical exam show if she is pregnant or not?

not unless they test her for it. usually urine test is done only to check for drugs so probably not. I suggest that if she can't talk to her mom about it, she should not be having s*x. I speak from experience...i had my first child at 17.

unless they do a pee test and check for pregnancy or do a blood test.  You are fine if they test it then I think the doctor would tell your girlfriend not the mom.  She could ask that he mom not be in the room during the exam.  That way she can talk to the Doctor about the problem.  The doctor has no right to tell the mother anything the daughter does not want her to know. Unless she is way underage.

She should talk to you her doctor about this with out her mom.  They could do the test that day and they can all discuss what to do.  If she is just late and not pregnant the exam would be a good time to bring up the fact she wants birth control and that it is for her irregular periods.

Judging by your dates she would be barely a week pregnant, so there's not really any change that it could be detected in a physical. A doctor who was looking for pregnancy might gently prod the lower half of the tummy and feel for any chance in position or size of the womb, but at this point it's highly unlikely you could feel anything, if she is pregnant the baby isn't even a baby, just a tiny cluster of cells that you would need a microscope to see.

The worry is what you will do if she is pregnant, I suggest taking a test as soon as possible to know for sure, then you can make an informed decision about what to do quickly.

A regular physical, no.  A gynecological exam, possibly.  Buy a test before Friday!

i would not worry about the physical detecting pregnancy, but she might want to keep the late period to herself, most docs ask that so she should give them a recent date for her period. The next step would be a pregnancy test after she gets that physical part out of the way,and free clinics are great for that, you and her can go together. There is always over the counter tests but a doc is a sure thing.Good Luck!
