My girlfriend might have an eating disorder?

alright, so i've been dating this girl on and off for about 2 years now, and we've always been pretty open. She told me some time around a year ago that she was feeling really depressed and asked me if she could talk to me if she had to, and I told her yes. She told me when she was suicidal at one point, and she told me when her mother was being verbally abusive to her.

She's always been very curvy, but normally tended to be quite comfortable with herself. Until recently, she has been talking to this one kid that goes to her school (We go to separate high schools) and now she hardly eats, and when she does eat she goes to the bathroom instantly. Her hair is starting to get dryer and she's been really to herself. I know pretty much all of this points to an eating disorder, but should I trust that she'd tell me if something was up?

  1. I would definitely talk to her about it. Be gentle, because it will be hard for her to admit her problem.

This could lead to something very bad.

    Hope all goes well :)

  2. Talk to her about it.

  3. It sounds like she is belemic.

But... I would wait till she said something to you.

Maybe say something personal to you.

  4. talk to her she could die

  5. The important thing is to be there for her. Start looking for signs that her arm hair/body hair is getting thicker, because this is the body's response to fat loss (the body is trying to protect from the cold). From what you said, she is probably ballimic. You should tell her to get help, but make sure when you tell her, you tell her that you will be with her throughout therapy. but don't threaten her.

  6. Um..Tough call. I would say just to talk to her about it. Be really gentle.

  7. No.

For her own safety, just tell her that there's no reason to starve herself. Compliment her on how she looked before, and tell her that she looks fine. Some reasons that people get eating disorders are that they have low self esteem and that they need to do radical things to make people like them. If you've always been open, tell her how you feel about her disorder and encourage her to stop
