My girlfriend's computer froze after running Photoshop, Cabal Online, Winamp and MSN messenger. She restarted her computer and Windows is saying that it was shut down improperly and it gives her 4 options. Safe Mode, Safe Mode w/Networking, Safe Mode w/ CMD Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration and Start WIndows Normally. She's chosen every option but no matter what the computer restarts and brings her back to that same screen. Is there anyway she can restart safely without losing any data or will she have to system restore?

  1. There are several primary areas that could be causing your computer to freeze. The most likely reason is that Corruption within your registry keys, registry classes, and registry settings.Any time you make a change to any of your computers settings and surfing online, they are stored and updated in the registry.Over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions and full of junk and errors. So if you run a program,it will take a long time to required registry file and sometime it cant find its registry files since regsitry errors and then it has to sit there. So your computer will freeze.

You need to run a self diagnostic program called regsitry cleaner. This program is very very useful,it can fix regsitry errors, clean registry remnant, corrupt files and temp files in a few minutes. Then give you a bran-new and high-speed computer. There are collection and comparison of top rated registry cleaner:

  2. ermmmm, ok

    1. Big overload. hehehe, i dont even do that, and i work on 10 websites at a time. (seriously)

    2. Answer. Well, there should be a way i use. If you have a friend that's good with pc's, you could take the hard drive out, put it into another pc, take all the important files off, and try to partition the drive. If not, do the hard drive thingy movement thingy, and just save your files and reinstall windows.

    3. A better way i would think is to try to keep using "Last known good config." (even if it repeats, it should eventually work) if not, do the sam wihth safe mode, and leave the others.

    4. Use the repair option on windows installation. Change boot order so that you can boot from cd, and use the Repair part of windows installation (should ask to press r). If that dont work, see a pc repairman.

  3. Check out http://www.pcoptimizerprodownload.com

With pc optimizer pro you can safely clean, repair and optimize your computer.

It will help improve your system performance and stop your computer from freezing.

    Good luck!

  4. Hmm I've had this happen to me before. One option is to try doing a windows repair. You boot from the computer operating cd and chose windows repair (option r). If that doesn't work I would suggest a complete reinstall of windows. You use the same disk except you press enter and go through that way. If you have to do a reinstall there is a chance you can get her data back. You would need to burn a copy of Knoppix (a linux based OS) to a cd. Boot from that CD and it should mount your hard drive. find the files you want to get off it and stick in a flash/external hard drive (do this AFTER linux loads otherwise it can hang).
