He washes his BMW everyday (even when it just rained). He wastes so much water it is not even funny. He even invites his friends over and has a "car wash party." I live in San Jose, CA. Is there anywhere I can call and put in a complaint because he is a good reason that we are running out of fresh water.

  1. Some water agencies have a wasted water reporting system.  I don't believe SJ Water does, but you could call them:

  2. Did somebody make you King?   I thought this was America.  This is exactly why most people can't stand "greenies", and enviro-fascists.

  3. If the town has water waste regulations you may be able to do something, if not maybe you should videotape him for a few weeks then take the tape to a town meeting and show them that maybe they need some regulations regarding wasting water, because there really isn't a reason to wash your car that much, since all they're really trying to do is impress people with the fact that they drive a BMW, ( big bleeping deal ) I'd rather have water to drink.

  4. You should mind your own business and keep your nose out of other people's.  Who died and put you in charge of what this gentleman or anyone else does?

  5. mind you own buisness  your jelious that he has nice car or what busybody

  6. Contact the city hall of the city where your girlfriend's neighbor lives. Ask them if there is any water use restriction policy. They should also be able to tell you if the city's department of water is the entity you need to contact. Note that many city halls are either closed or have reduced number of staff working on Fridays.

If the neighbor you mentioned lives in rented housing, his landlord would probably be happy to know that someone has just found the answer for him why the water bill is so high.

  7. They guy sounds like a total moron. I dont even live in the states but I would love you to find a way to stop him. Not only is he wasting water but think of all the soap he is dumping into the system. I expect that there are 1000's more just like him. I am just happy that I dont have a BMW, stupid, dumb car. He is a classic example of the expression "your possessions possess you"

  8. We have enough people trying to tell us what to do. It's none of you concern dude. Mind your business.

  9. it might goes against watering bi-laws in the summer. where i from you can only water every other day like if you live at house 62 ytou can only water on ever numbered days and 37 would only be allowed to on odd numbered days

  10. I went looking for the water conservation of santa clara county info on driveway car washing restrictions, just sure they had them!  I couldn't find any reference to it at all however.  What I did find was a way to make an appointment for your gf's neighbor to get a visit with a water conservation reviewer!

Call (800) 548-1882 to schedule an appointment, or click here to submit an online Water Wise House Call request.

  11. Your GF should keep you busy.

    Sounds like you are bored.

My neighbor has a hot red Corvette, but I don't get envious.

  12. Just ask yourself, does a neurotic guy like that own the car, or does the car own him?

I bet the poor guy washes his hands alot and changes his underwear 2 or 3 times a day.

He's pretty insecure, and the car is a huge part of his self image, you should feel sorry for him...

I suggest you just let it go, as people like that are more trouble than it's worth.

Buy an old VW bus, cover it with mud and filth and park it on the street in front of his house when you visit your GF.

Have fun, be happy... life is too short!

  13. If there is a water conservation law in place, then you could call the police and report it.  Otherwise you have no legal recourse.  You could start leaving flyers on his door or even knock on his door and give him packets about conserving water.  You could also call his house and tell him what you think of his wastefulness.  Its not very likely that your neighbor will change, unless you make him realize that his wasting water is a bad thing.  Maybe buy some car polish and give it to him to try to lure him away from the water use.

  14. Well, contacting the water company won't work -- the neighbor is what their dreams are made of!

I suggest you look in the Yellow Pages under "Environmental Protection Agencies. "

Thanks for being a concerned  American !!

  15. i'm not sure which is sadder a car wash party or somebody who wants to complain about a car wash party!

  16. Yes

Buy his house, so you don't have to put up with his c**p.

  17. Well all considered it's not illegal. Water isn't something that will arrest him or fine him for. Unless they have a restriction on water or there's a drought I doubt they will even check on it. My suggestion is maybe talk to the guy and explain why him doing that bothers you and hoping that he's not a prick maybe he'll understand. I see where you're coming from and it is a bit crazy to wash your car every day. Come to think of it I haven't washed my truck in about 5 months.... >.>

Anyway, back to the point. That's the best advise I can give you. If he doesn't listen you might call the city water plant and ask them if there's anything you can do.

    Good luck, hope this helps.

And to all the people flaming, shut up. Some people actually give a d**n about the environment.

  18. Leave the guy alone. Get a life dude. I think you don't want your gf to look at the guy.

  19. The guy obviously loves his car.  Leave him alone.

  20. Cars are very important to people, I get a huge amount of satisfaction from washing my car, (I only can afford a Ford at the moment) but can't wait to get a faster car and I want to keep it looking good.
