My girls got a furby brand new in the box?

I bought new batteries and held the furby upside down and put in the batteries then held the tounge down and kept holding it down while I pushed the reset button and closed the battery compartment and screwed it in and it did not start up,what am I doing wrong?

As far as i remember, you just push the reset button without pressing the tounge.  Install the batteries, s***w on the cover, then using a Pen tip or Like device, push the reset button, the Furby should start right up.
