  1. yes, if the tank doesnt have a lid, turn a fan on and surprisingly the water will cool down. if you want the water hotter, put a light over the top of the tank with out the lid on.

but possibly it might not be the tempature, it might be the fish. or the food.

  2. Goldfish like colder water. Might be too hot for them

  3. There could be a few things causing this

Do you have a filter? Most people htink goldfish dont need a filter, I didnt realise until I started researching but it can put them off their food and kill them very quikly if they do not have a filter.

The water should be room temperature to make it comfortable

Also do you have any safe water? Its a treatment you drip into the water, the chlorine in tap water that makes it safe for us to drinks very harmful to fish and if untreated can make the more sensitive ones lethargic.

Also if it was from the fair it is probably a little stressed out from all the noise and flashing lights

    Hope this helps

Btw you shouldn't need a heater for a goldfish so long as the water is room temperature =)

  4. The minimum size tank for a single fancy goldfish is 29 gallons. If it is a comet goldfish, then it will need significantly larger quarters, as they are actually pond fish. Goldies are coldwater fish, not tropicals, so they prefer their water between 50 and 70 degrees. You will likely not need a heater. If the goldfish is in a bowl, it will die. No ifs ands or buts about it. Try a water change, 50 percent a week in a tank, if it is a bowl you will need to change the water daily to keep it from dying. But you will need to find a new home for it if it is in anything less than a 29 gallon tank.
