Question:

My goldfish has flipover?

I was trying to get my goldfish out of the tank with a net, but I think I accidentally injured one of its fins. Now it keeps flipping over on its back. (It has never had this problem before) Is this broken fin causing the flipover or is something else bothering it? Will the fin heal in a couple of days?

  1. Hi,

Unfortunately, when my goldfish began to flip over, it took only about 24 hrs for him to pass on......

I have reason to believe that I fed mine too much. He was a fantail with a marble like belly and pooped clear with white bubbles. I think he died of constipation (RIP Lewis). I would suggest trying to get him to eat a mashed pea as this will help with the constipation if that is what he has. Mine also had trouble swimming down, then at the end of his life, had trouble swimming up. Move him to a container, if this is the case, with a low waterline so that he can reach the surface more easily.

If this is not the problem, it could be internal parasites. If so, I would advise getting ParasiteClear or some sort of antiparasite food. I've heard the food works better...

I know this is a site for bettas, but there is useful information concerning diagnosing your fish...

  2. i think you fed it too much. microwave a pea and make sure it is submerged in cold water. take the skin off the pea and chop into small bits. it works on betta's too. BUT DO NOT OVER FEED IT with the pea.
