Question:

My goldfish hide when they see me?

The water is fine and there aren't any predator fish in the tank, so why do they keep hiding when they see me? It's like they'll swim away really fast when I walk up to the tank. They only started doing this this week so what gives? Could they be scared of me or something they saw me do?

  1. no but if you have had them for a long time something must have changed but if you just got them than they must just be getting use to their new surroundings.

  2. sollution you could pull out all the decors in your tank have a bare tank.  Somebody might try to catch them or you got a cat in your house.

  3. Goldfish can become habituated to humans just like other pets. Once they get used to you (or come to view you as a source of food) they wont hide from you anymore.

  4. First thing... Don't worry. Your fish are probably getting used to their new surroundings, new ornaments, different water conditions and owners. It'll take them about 3 more days to get used to their new surroundings. OR, they have a disease; dose with an all-round tonic and anti bacterial/anti fungal treatment.

Soon enough, your fish will jump for joy and rush to the front of the tank when they see you... it was the same story for me. =)

    Good luck

  5. What has me worried is that you said they only started this week. Are they hiding even when you aren't by the tank? Often when a fish is hiding it's sick (usually parasites). Look for signs of illness if you can.
