  1. Getting rid of fungus is very hard. Two months after I had started my fish tank I got the same problem. I desperately looked for a cure while  9 out of my 12 goldfish had died. Then I learned that the aquarium salt it's a very effective treatment for almost any fish disease ( I'm talking of  SALT FOR FRESHWATER AQUARIUM! and not the regular salt that you use in your food). You can find this product in any Petco or Petsmart AND MAKE SURE THAT IT IS FOR FRESHWATER AND NOT FOR A MARINE TANK.

You will find it as "Aquarium Salt" and is made by API.

Right after I started using it, the remaining fish began to look more alive and finally they survived

You can even use it as part of the aquarium regular maintenance providing fish with essential electrolytes at the same time that kills any parasite that might be in the aquarium. It also helps for constipation problems.

The recommended usage is 1 tablespoonful (approx. 14 milliliters) for every 5 gallons, although I use less than that (approx 10 mil. for every 5 gallons) to maintain my aquarium and since then (almost a year), all the fish in my aquarium including the "three survivors" look very alive and full of energy.

I really recommend you this and I hope that you can have a happy ending with this situation.

    Good luck.

  2. 20 percent in a month is too far goldfish produces waste a lot some do 10 percent daily and do 30 to 50 weekly the water condition could be bad.

  3. you should bring it to the vet.

  4. take a sample of the water to the local fish/pet shop and get them to check it. they check it for free and they will tell you what's wrong.

  5. check for ammonia in the water, this can be deadly

  6. obviously, test your water and everything, but he still might be a bit sensitive after his illness and treatment.

I don't actually know if your fish is doing this for sure i'm just speaking from experience, it might help.

I had a goldfish which had cotton wool like growths near his gills and down his body. After i treated it and the growths disappeared, he was still scraping himself against the ornaments and gravel in the aquarium. So i panicked thinking has he got something else? Or have i diagnosed wrongly and mistreated him? But there wasn't really anything i could do, his growths were getting smaller, so i couldnt change the water, that wudve got rid the medication and i couldn't use another med so i just had to let him get on with it.

Alot of scales fell off, and most eventually grew back with time, but even after like 2 years later he's still a bit patchy in places.

So it could be that simple, but check for everything else first xxxxx
