Okay, my family and recently got 4 fish. The lady at the store said that they would get along fine. But then my mom and I think that my goldfish, pearl, killed them. And then she had about 6 babies, but every time the babies get close to her, she chases them and nips them. And then the babies quickly swim away, and hide from her. Should I seperate them???? What should I do????

  1. If it a shubumpkins  calico goldfish..they are mean goldfish..

See if the fish store will do a trade!  My stores do , or they take back problem fish and give store credit..

  2. its not a goldfish... its a piranha!!!!! (lol)

  3. I don't think you have goldfish because they dont "have babies", they lay eggs and it takes quite a while for the babies to grow, usually the adults eat all the eggs or the newly hatched fry

also, if Pearl is a male then he would chase females while trying to spawn

and if they don't have hiding places then things can get rough

  4. pmsl

  5. I used to keep goldfish and there always seemed to be one boss fish in the tank, but I'm no expert but i would put the babies in another tank or buy a hatching tank as they sometimes eat their babies good luck

  6. For the sake of the other fish I think you should seperate them. Kinda like a beta fish. Just keep her in another bowl or tank.
