  1. Poolmyfinger gave a stupid answer because if she was born before independence in 1912 that doesnt make her british because she did not live in Britain the british only colonized us (Jamaica). So she is Jamaican cause she was not born in Britain. So when applying dont put she was born before independence. And they might ease up on her because she's Jamaican.MIGHT.

Poolmyfinger I did my research and your research was obviously wrong if you carefully examine the difference between my answer and yours, yours is stupid she cannot be a ctizen if she was not living in the country we were only colonized by England as I said before. Not cause we are commonwealth we have such previlages. We have to go through the same steps as any body else.

  2. Not unless she was born to british parents or applied for citizenship later on in her life.

Cayman is still a colony and the people there have to apply for british citizenship.

  3. Why would she be a British citizen if she was "borned" in Jamaica?

  4. i knew someone who was BORN in jamaica exactly 1912 and she was a jamaican... i think what you want to find out is, if after jamaica got it independence from Britian, if the people before 1962 were considered British or Jamaican. Never thought of that, just look up more on the history r as that other person said ask someone that is older that would know about those stuff

  5. If she moved to Britian and went through some type of naturalized process, then she would be a british citizen.

ask some of your older family members to find this out

  6. There is a strong possibility that she could/will be a British citizen considering that Jamaica is part of the British commonwealth system. As a matter of fact, Jamaica obtained independence from the United Kingdom on August 6, 1962. This means that since she was born before its independence, she should still be a British citizen unless other stipulations were given.

You may want to check a local British consolate for additional information.

Update: After further researching this, she is a British citizen since Jamaica is a commonwealth. For what constitutes a British citizen, please check out the second source listed.

Hmm...Malcolm below obviously hasn't done the research on this topic. Also, telling the inquiring person to falsefy a government document is not only "stupid," but shows the lack of intellegence and imprudence that this person has.

The sources below will strongly support what I have mentioned earlier...
