do you think this could be the answer to this dwindling oil reserve problem we are facing and could this put the whole electric car industry out of business.

  1. Aviation fuel comes from oil. Even with that aside, petrol prices would go up even more. Aviation fuel is of a much higher octane and is more powerful, and is more expensive to produce. And this doesn't solve any more pollution problems.

  2. mmmmmmmmm

  3. No it wont put them out of business as u need oil for the fuel

  4. And what do you think they make aviation fuel from?

    Got it in one! Oil!

    Back to the drawing board.

  5. aviation fuel is higher octane than gasoline and is used in cars that are "fuel" drag racers

  6. What is aviation fuel?  Do some research.   It is more refined gasoline or diesel.  Yeah they can use diesel in jet engines.

  7. Where do you think aviation fuel comes from? Oil.

  8. aviation fuel? LOL and just where do you think that comes from? ROFL It's like saying my car runs on diesel, do you think this will solve the petrol shortage?

Thank you for the giggle at anyrate and the answer is "No"

  9. AV fuel is made from crude oil and to a lesser extent from coal. The difference between AV fuel and kerosene is the antifreeze package that must be added for high altitudes. Most diesel engines can run this fuel with little adaptation as this fuel is but a cleaner version of diesel.Mpg gains are so minimal that they are largely ignored. Unless you are willing to sell this fuel at less than $2.00 a gallon, by the millions of gallons, available upon demand, no one will take notice.

  10. To be exact, your granddads car was built to run aviation gasoline which is exactly 100 Octane, low lead (100LL is on the label of the tank at the airport).  Aviation fuel is not kerosene or diesel.  Jet fuel is kerosene.

Jet engines can burn diesel if they are bolted to the ground and coupled to an electrical generator, but they cannot use diesel in jet planes that fly at 30,000 feet because diesel will turn to a thick liquid that cannot be pumped to the 300 psig needed to be injected into the engine.

You GD car is 12 to 1 compression ratio engine (maybe 11.0 to 12.5).  This high compression engine allows for more horsepower per engine displacement.  You can also by a racing gasoline at the tracks that goes up to 105 Octane which allows you to get even more HP out a the customized engines.  If you remember, aviation gasoline has tetra ethyl lead lead in it and it is illegal to use in anything but airplanes.  You could be fined $25,000 for using it in a car driven on the street.

  11. I always thought aircraft flew on orange juice, Mr Sceptic and Vernon you are clever!
