My grandfather was adopted. Can I find information like what country his parents are from?

... I know they don't disclose personal information, but can I just find out general information about his lineage.

  1. It sounds like you'll need to get a copy of the adoption record.  Depending on the estimated year and the country and the location of the adoption, you may be able to search for the record online or find out how to get a copy.

    If you have the names and approximate birth dates of his parents, we may be able to search for their information directly...

  2. It really depends on where your grandfather was born, what the court system laws are and how you can get his original birth records. Alot of states have the original birth records of an adoptee sealed, so you'd have to go thru the court system and court records to get it.   3. I have the same problem , my dad was adopted , you can try to get his case number of his adoption record , and start from there , or if you have lots of money you can always do a DNA test to see where your grandpa oringinateds from
