  1. you and your grandfather will have to go to the hospital he was born in ( if it's still there) and ask for the documents of babys given to adoption on the year and week he was born.

  2. Do you know any other info, like where he was from?  Talk to your family and see if anyone knows anymore, or if there is paper work that shows more info.  Actual date of birth, hospital of birth all helpful.  Good Luck.

  3. familytree.com when your on type your grand fathers name and last name (the original) then there you go!

  4. Adoption records were usually sealed, but it depends on the circumstances of the adoption.  If you can locate the court where the adoption was filed, you may be able to petition the court to view the file.

I say MAY because there have been a lot of changes regarding the rights of adoptees.  If your grandfather is dead, it may be impossible, or it may make it easier.

However, the first step is to locate the place where your gr-father was born and then check the courthouse for possible adoption records.  If it is was a case of a step-father adoption, it may be possible to find the earlier marriage record and then go from there.

  5. Every move you make on your computer, including all of your email and Internet activity, is being recorded whether you realize it or not. With PrivacyControl you can Delete All Traces of Computer

  6. Adoptions are NORMALLY sealed, but that is not definitive that you cannot trace grandpa.  For one thing.. someone knows the name, and that indicates the probability that the parent(s) were somehow known to the family.  Another possible thing is that he was Never formally adopted, but raised by another family without legal papers being filed.

The trick here is in the details.  Is he still living? what does he remember if anything? what about any living siblings, or cousins, so forth?  WHEN was he born? if born before 1930 in the US, you will certainly want to locate him in the census. Do you know his place of birth?? the one lady is completely wrong as to going to hospitals.. they would not give out that info, even if they had it.

Personally, my advice is that this question is one that needs networking, and quickly, on the chance that someone knows the answer, or even clues.  Even using just the adoptive parents.. do EVERYTHING you can, to fill in all the possible blanks, as to siblings, WHO THEY MARRIED, ETC.  If he comes from a small enough town/ county, and was there pre 1930, I would pull up a list of any persons with the Lindsay name that lived there, and be on the lookout for possible associations.

SOME counties maintained birth registers on county levels (not the same as birth certificates from the state).  That is a possible source.

If you can post details of name/place/time (without posting live persons),  we may be able to find some leads for you. Networking in family is something that has to be done from your end.
