She had a stroke, and i want to the pill. But all the information i have read on the pill says increased risk of stroke, and i am worried that since someone in my family had one that i will have an even bigger risk.

  1. The first answer is good. Just mention it to your doctor when you go and ask for the pill. They will determine if it's safe for you to take or not. If not they can help you pick another birth control method.

  2. The increased risk of stroke is typically for women over 40 years old and women who smoke.

I have been on the birth control pill for 2 1/2 years now, and have never had any symptoms of a stroke (my grandfather had them and they run in my family).

You need to see a doctor, as only a doctor can tell you if you would be a high risk for a stroke will on birth control.
