  1. I'm trying to understand your question. Is this what you mean?

She has alzheimer's disease, fell and hit her head on the left side but after having a CT Scan the MD said she has blood on her brain on the right side. Yes?

The type of injury is called Coup/contra-coup.

The brain is really floating inside the skull. When the head is struck hard it is forced in that direction. The brain inside the head is moving in that direction as well. When the head stops moving the brain inside continues moving and strikes the opposite side of the head, inside of the skull.

So she hit the left side of the head and it moved towards the right. When her head stopped moving her brain inside, kept moving and hit the inside of her skull on the right side. It caused a tear and bleeding inside her head on the right side even though the original injury was on the left.

The original hit is called the "coup" and the brain hitting the other side is the "contra coup"
