I don't have much other information on her. She would not talk about her life on the reservation. She married my grandfather who's name was William La Tourrette. She had 5 children. She has recently passed on .

  1. Would these be your grandparents? If so, it appears that in official records the surname is not separated with a space. Also, their Social Security Numbers are listed, as well, but I didn't feel it appropriate to post the numbers here.(from the Social Security Death Index)

    HELEN LATOURRETTE  23 Jul 1911 27 Apr 2005 (V)

    12131 (North Blenheim, Schoharie, NY)

    WILLIAM LATOURRETTE  05 Jan 1904 Jun 1969

    12131 (North Blenheim, Schoharie, NY)

  2. Contact the most populous nation in New York, the Iroquois, through their intertribal council - the oldest in the U.S. native community - for information on their tribal rolls.  They are a great place to start, since they make up a majority of native people in NY state (examples - Seneca, Onondoga, Oneida, Tuscarora, Mohawk, etc.)
