  1. There were 4619 deaths in Fulton Co in 1948, with many being less than 1 month old.  Plus not sure if they were in a subburb and not in Fulton Co.

  2. They had to have a death certificate. Use the SSDI to confirm your aunt's date of birth, then check with the DeKalb and Fulton County Health Depts to see if they have a death record for him. The baby lived more than an hour, so he should have both a certificate of live birth and a certificate of death. The birth certificate should coincide with your aunt's date of birth, so the math of even taking it a month out for the death certificate to be filed gives you a nice, tight window to work in to find the records. Also check with the church where the family worshipped to see if they have a record of an infant's funeral. Even if they didn't have the money for a funeral home, they wouldn't have been denied a funeral service for their baby.
