  1. Need more data. It is unlikely that you are related to the first president John Adams, since my 4th great grandfather hung-out with his brother Samuel, and tossed tea overboard.

You would have to be very old for him to have only been a great-great grandfather.

Possibly John Quincy Adams, but I suspect you need to verify your specific connection to your John Adams through meticulous documents, as "John Adams" is nearly as common as "John Smith."

Hit the common genealogy web sites. Good luck, and happy hunting.

  2. boomer wisdom john adams was the second president showing a lot of wisdom there

  3. Yea, and Hitler was my grandfather.

  4. What you need is "John Adams, born about 1890, who married Ann Jones in Missouri"  or other ways to identify him by more than just the name.

ALL genealogy is built on simple rules, such as start with now, and work your way back.  However, just interviewing family is not enough.. you have to use available records to both confirm your connections, AND find clues in what you have. The records that exist are normally more extensive than you think.

The obvious is that you know that he had at least one child, who was your gr grandparent.  Who was that child, and what do you have about him/ her?? date and place of birth, siblings, etc.  Obviously, if that child was born in 1917 in Joplin, Missouri, it gives you a place to start looking. Persons (in the US) who were living in 1930, are usually findable in the census records.

If you DON'T have the details on the gr grandparent (child), which are more recent.. then you have to drop back and deal with that.  It may mean having to locate (and pay) for such things like death certificates, which you wanted to avoid. Sometimes, it isn't possible to do that.

Dependable work is built on the more recent info.. to keep you from having to try to guess, with nothing more than a name.

  5. If you are refering to the President of the USA then here you go.  If not then you need to give more info on who you are refering to.  Give dates and places.  Make a paper trail.

John Adams was the elder of two brothers, born on October 30, 1735 (October 19, 1735 by the Old Style, Julian calendar), in Braintree, Massachusetts, to John and Susanna Boylston Adams.  The location of Adams' birth became part of Quincy, Massachusetts in 1792 and is now part of Adams National Historical Park. His father, also named John (1690–1761), was a fourth-generation descendant of Henry Adams, who immigrated from Barton St David, Somerset, England, to Massachusetts Bay Colony in about 1636, from a Welsh male line called Ap Adam.[1] His father was a farmer, a Congregationalist (that is, Puritan) deacon, a lieutenant in the militia and a selectman, or town councilman, who supervised schools and roads. His mother, Susanna Boylston Adams,[2] was a descendant of the Boylstons of Brookline.

  6. My gggrandfather was also named John Adams.  Where did yours live?  Do you have a birth, death date, wife's name?   The name was pretty common, but with more information I might be able to help.
