About a week ago, my golden greek tortoise started to become very active in his tank, what can be wrong with him? Ive had him for about year (he's older) and he's never done this, he usually gets plenty of time outside his tank and gets exercise and good fresh food. All of a sudden he's been trying to climb on top of his house, his food, his water...what can be wrong???

  1. Is his tank temperature too hot? it might be the reason for this

Also, it is mating season and if he's a male he is bound to show some strange behaviour..... sheezz men!!

  2. Something could be irritating him,or he is just wanting to mate.

But i really don't specialize in Tortoises.

    Sorry Hope This Helps

  3. Something in his tank could be bugging him. What i would suggest is a full sweep of everything in his cage. Wash and disinfect everything with a reptile safe cleaner and put in fresh bedding, food, and water. Also, check the lights and other heating sources. He might be reacting to a change in temperature. Maybe the lamps short circuiting causing it to be excessively hot and hes trying to escape it. monitor the temp closely. I also suggest you take him to the vet for a checkup just in case its not something in his environment. god forbid somethings wrong you could  catch it in time. but then again he might might just be wanting a mate :) i hope this helps and good luck

  4. horny. stop changing infront of him

  5. If he is older then he at his "sexual peak". He wants to find a mate. I would suggest calling up a breeder and ask if he needed a extra golden greek tortoise to mate. When he is done mating he should be fine.
