Question:

My green spotted puffer curls up and sinks to the bottom?

I have 2 and 1 sinks curling up except when I feed them, I put aquarium salt and does it make the water brakish and if he's stress how can I cheer him up.

  1. I have 2 figure eight puffers and did a ton of research on puffers (including green spotted) before I got them.  From this I learend that Green spotted puffers are brackish water fish but instead of aquarium salt, a marine mix salt should be added - I use instant ocean.  I don't think the aquarium salt will hurt them though, it is just lacking some of the minerals in the marine mix salt.  You will also need a hydrometer to make sure that the salinity is right and the salinity will need to be increased slowly.  I can't say that your fishes behavior is due to not having marine salt - but it is a possibility.  To help with stress - the best thing is to make sure that your fish have plenty of hiding places - like caves and plants.  My puffer likes to hide under a piece of driftwood sometimes.


  2. I have one they are very lazy and just wait for there next meal. My is very fat cause all he does is eat!!
