  1. I seriously doubt it.

It would be like traveling with an expired passport - not possible.

Where in England are you from, if I may ask so bluntly?

And which U.S. state were you planning on going?

    Thanks.

  2. No you can not if you left the US then you have effectively abandoned your green card status, by not living in the USA and would have to the start the  process all over again

  3. it does depend on how long you've been gone from the US.  If you have been away for quite some time, the US views that you no longer live in the US and have abandoned your green card status.

  4. That would depend on how long you've been outside of the US. If you've been away for more than a year, then you've lost your legal permanent residence status. You can always check up on this by going to the US embassy in London. They have an immigration office and can confirm your status, one way or the other.

  5. No. You will need to renew your Green Card before you come back into the United States.

Customs will not let you back.

  6. kind of defeats the object of having a greencard system if its still valid after it expires

  7. NO

you will need to go though the entire application process again.
