  1. It really depends on what they were feeding her. I know seed/nut diets are considered the norm but they are actually very unhealthy, they contain fat and that's basically it. See if you can get her to eat healthy table food, like broccoli, carrots, white rice, maybe a little bit of plain cooked chicken, etc. And maybe see if you can get her to eat a small amount of pellets. The best way to offer her new foods is to give her a little with whatever she's eating now; when you give it to her, stand there with her while she looks it over. See if you can be nibbling on a little of it yourself--you won't want to do this with the pellets but there's no reason why you can't eat a little broccoli or rice or chicken. Seeing you eat some will help give her confidence that it really is food, that 'everyone else is doing it', and she'll be far more likely to try it herself. Praise always works well, too. ;)

Believe me, most people *want* their birds to eat less seeds and more vegetables; as long as she's eating vegetables and not junk like pizza, you'll be ten steps ahead of most bird owners out there.

  2. well you could turn the table food into a good diet. you can mix in cheerios win nuts and fruit pieces with granola and oats to make something healthy and people food. maybe the bird only eats food they see people eating? you can pretend to munch on some pellets so she gets the idea that its good food. you can check some bird recipes on the net to see what you can make that's healthy. offer variety and color to get your bird interested. try different pellet and seed brands.
