  1. It is better if the vet does it.But if you have a metal bar cage he can do it by itself.

  2. vets are the best bet but it is possible to do it yourself

    although it isnt recommended

make sure u buy it some woods chews and stuff in future to keeps its teeth short

my advice would be to take to the the vets to make sure they are clipped properly and to the right length

  3. yes!!!!!! a vet only

    also gets some chew sticks

    salt l**k.

    more chewwing stuff

    keep it busy chewing!

  4. Yes, you can go to a vet for that. Also so you don't have to keep on taking him to the vet you can give him Milk-Bones and wood blocks to chew on.

  5. You can buy a stone from a pet shop that he/she can grind thay,re teeth on...

  6. This is definetly a vet trip, you may see that the front ones are over grown but you will not be able to see how overgrown you piggys back teeth are.  You will need to find a vet who is good with pigs and depending on how long they are piggy should not need a anaesthetic to trim them.  If you do not get the problem sorted they will overgrow and cause piggy distress aswell as starvation!

Its important to keep feeding piggy until you can get to the vets and on return piggy may be a little off food so chop small amounts and feed them it.  It is essential for all piggys to have plenty of hay through out the day and fresh veggies and some form of pellet food, piggys are grazers and spend all day munching which keeps keep their teeth trim!

    Good luck at the vets!

  7. Yes you should have a vet do it. But some groomers will do it. Both the vet and groomer will do it pretty cheap.

Some ways to keep it's teeth from overgrowing again is to

    - keep a wooden carrot in it's cage

    - make sure it always has something to chew on

    - some hay can help

I hope everything works out well GOOD LUCK!!!!! :D

  8. Ya

Dont use regular vet's use an exotic pet vet

  9. Yes... look around for an exotics vet or one that has experience with guinea pigs.

  10. yes a vet will need to do it, but after that give it plenty of toys and maybe a wooden carrot to chew on.^^

  11. yes take him to a vet, and give him lots of hay to chew after that

  12. Doesn't have to.... give him some hard food and chew sticks.

  13. Yes You cannot do this at home as you could over cut and damage the nerves in his mouth.

Also providing plenty of gnawing material will stop this happening again if the guinea does not have mallocolusion

  14. Yes, the vet defintely needs to clip these teeth other wise your animal will not be able to eat and he will unfortuantely starve. It's not very expensive around £12-£15 depending on your vet.

  15. Do NOT give him any salt licks or dog treats.

Yes, find a good vet and have him checked over http://www.guinealynx.info/vet.html

Does he have access to hay at all times? If he isn't eating, you want to handfeed.

  16. You are able to do it yourself but it is always best to leave it upto the experts as they obviously know what they are doing.

Once they are trimmed it's a good idea to put some wood or something for them to chew on so it doesn't happen again.

never use treated pine in the cage as it has chemicals in it and will harm you piggy.

You can buy special flavoured wooden chews from most pet shops if you are un sure about what to put in the cage.

    Hope this helps.

  17. take him to the vet
