when i hold my guinea pig and put him resting across my chest he is always running up to my face and trying to bury himself under my chin, its really getting annoying because he is running up and smothering my face with his fur and keeps sniffing my face. Why is he doing this? Im not sure if its because he loves me or something else?

  1. It's just what they do. Shoulder/neck area is a great cuddle spot. They feel safe and secure there.

  2. Eat him.

  3. he probably wants to hide. if u got him recently, you can first try to tame him?

  4. Honestly he's probably burying his face because he's nervous or afraid.  This is probably the case especially if you have gotten him recently.

If it's really starting to bug you, try holding him in your lap and cross your arms around him so he can hide under your elbow instead of under your neck.

  5. He's just curious :]

It could very well mean he loves you alot :]

  6. Guinea pigs usually do this when they are scared or nervous. But also it can mean that your guinea pig wants to hide. But if he keeps doing this, it may mean that he really loves you as a friend. Sometimes when guinea pigs get close to their owner, they feel safe with them.

  7. Open fire grill him

  8. He's probably just trying to hide, if you hold him differently like in your arms he won't smother your face.

But as he's new and all chirpy he could just be checking everything out, and maybe your face smells nice.

  9. GPs are very social animals, I suggest getting him a same s*x friend.  My piggies like to hide in my hair, if it bugs you try using a towel on your lap for him to hide in.
