  1. First of all, guinea pig bites are in no way deadly and barely hurt at all, so don't be afraid! If you're afraid, your guinea pig will sense it and be more likely to bite you. You just have to get it used to being handled, handle it for short periods of time multiple times a day so it doesn't get stressed from long handling sessions. When you hold it give it a baby carrot or piece of lettuce so it associates you with good things. Most importantly, be patient! Many guinea pigs do grow out of this bad habit with the proper handling.

  2. I have dwarf hamsters, not guinea pigs, but i would give the same advice to any rodent caring person. One way you could try and make it friendlier to you is to constantly play with it or just simply let it stay in your hand. Your guinea pig should have the chance to get used to your scent :] If you are afraid it will bite you when you are trying to handle it, try using rubber gloves at first. keep on caring for it & not ignore it in the corner of your room :]

Basically, just love the critter :D

  3. The more you handle a aniamly the better it will respond to you

  4. well my pig bites some too but dont worry there r things you can do to help this problem!!  i have found when Guinea pigs bite they either have to go to the bath room, r scared or its like a kiss! so when he bites put him n his cage and let him go to the bathroom or hold one hand under his bottom and one hand on his back or take him away from loud noises !

  5. look to see if it is hurt in ant way, most guinea pigs are gentle and nice, mine slept in my bed when I had it and when I woke up I would see him sleeping next too me. So find a way to keep (him/her) busy while you check for splinters, cuts, etc.

  6. guinea pigs rarely bit and if they do they don't hurt much. when i got my first guinea pig sesamie she bit me once or twice but now she doesn't at all. she got use to my fingers and make sure to wash your hand everytime you go to your piggy becuz they sometimes mistaken it for a carrot or a treat
