  1. How much vitamin C was he getting?  Guinea pigs will often die from not getting enough vitamin C, and it can be caused be weakness, shaking, or excessive water drinking.  Heat stroke will often have an animal bleeding from the ear or breathing fast.  Only a vet could preform a necropsy and find out for sure, but you probably should have taken him to the vet when your brother saw all the shaking. :(  I'm sorry for your loss.  We have 5 guinea pigs, the oldest is 3 years old but he doesn't act old at all.

  2. It could have been many things, from a heart attack, stroke or some underlying infection.  I doubt it was because of the room temperature or 'meningitis'.

The other way to know for sure would be to have a vet do a necropsy.  Sorry for your loss.

  3. it was probably too hot or too cold in the room, thats what happened to my hamster. and two years is an average life span for a hamster/ginea pig/mouse sorry bout charlie :[ i love animals. hate to see that happen too him
