  1. I had a friend who's snake got bitten by a hamster, and it died. Not trying to scare you, just think you should know it could be serious. Will your guinea pig let you touch the wound? If so, I suggest washing it with warm water and soap. Make sure you rinse it completely. If your pet ingested it, that could be harmful obviously. After cleaning it, keep it clean. Maybe even neosporin...just pay attention to ingrediants and keep an eye on it.

  2. Take her to a vet. Are they in the same cage? Well, always keep them away from each other in case this happens again.

  3. VET!

for future reference dont let your hamster near your guinea pig!

  4. Sam...sorry you had a bad vet. I hope you were able to help your pig.

Sam's story just goes to show that when you do go to a vet, it needs to be one experienced with guinea pigs. Something simple like an a hay poke usually just needs drops or an ointment.

You can find a qualified vet by looking here:

    Good luck

  5. Take it to the vet asap. However, my guinea pig poked his eye with a peice of straw and when i took him to the vet (because his eye was cut) he said that his eye would either need amputating, or he could give him eye drops, and let him stay alive for about another week and he would eventually die. The problem was, the op to remove the eye costed £100, and i didnt think it was that bad. So i took the drops and put them in his eye 3 times a day every day until they wer gone. Now, one year on, he is still alive. SO vets arent always right (i dont think so anyway) but its probably best to get him checked out :). Good luck, let me know how it goes :) x.

  6. if it is bleeding you might want to put a towel over the wound and RUSH to the vet as soon as possible

  7. Take her to the vet ASAP!

  8. A vet really isn't necessary unless it gets infected. I've gotten my share of hamster bites, and I don't rush to the emergency room every time.

Just keep it clean. As long as it's stopped bleeding, it's not an emergency. If you see any swelling or oozing, or it seems to be very painful, then you should get to a vet for some antibiotics.

If it doesn't get infected, it should heal fine on its own - and in the future, don't let your hamster and pig play together!
