  1. It could be just a fatty tumor. Guinea pigs are known of getting lumps and bumps. I would call the vet and get their oppinion just in case. It could be cancer or even just a spider bite...

  2. It is almost certainly an abscess. Throat abscesses are very common especially in young guinea pigs. They are usually caused by something sharp, a thistle or splinter in the hay which has stuck inside the guineas mouth. It is nature’s way of getting rid of the thistle – it works its way outwards – and eventually the abscess will burst.

A vet can open the abscess up and drain it. It will need to be bathed daily to keep the wound open as it has to heal from the inside first.  If it seals up on the outside it will just fill up with horrible smelling pus again. Some vets may want to remove the abscess and stitch the wound up…find another vet!

  3. Likely either a tumor or an abscess. Either way, a vet visit is in order. It's likely that your guinea pig will be OK with treatment, so I wouldn't worry just yet as long as you make her a vet appointment.

  4. It could be ethier:

    1) She has a tumor (nothing to worry about)

    2) She has a bug bite (take her to the vet)

    3) she swallowed something (unlikely, but if so take her to the vet)

    4) she has cancer.  (nothing u can do about it =(  )

JUST TO BE SURE, I WOULD TAKE HER TO THE VET.

  5. Call your vet.  Could just be a bug bite but even that can be dangerous if her reactions closes her throat.  Get her some help and hopefully it is not a cancer.
