i took her to the vet for a URI and i got medication for it and she has been a lot better and seems to be happy. She noticed a dry spot [im assuming was her ear] and checked for mites. There were none. My pig scratches every once in a while and doesnt seem too bothered by anything. What could be the source of the crust? its not bleeding and there is no hair loss or anything. help?

  1. Where is the crust? It sounds like it could be perfectly normal. Also, what do you mean 'dry spot'? Your vet doesn't sound too knowledgeable, because there is no way to see mites. Any sort of test she might have done is generally inconclusive and painful. If mites are suspected, I'd treat the guinea pigs with Ivermectin anyways.

  2. I don't know it's perfectly normal that your guinea pig scratches every once in a while. The crust I am not so sure about sorry ;(...
