YES, Guinea Pigs do go into heat.

YES, it sounds like she's pregnant. The plug is a mucus plug, which is very common in females that recently mated.

The gestation peroid for Guinea Pigs is longer even than dogs and cats; 68-72 days. That's over 2 months, so NO they're not almost due. If she is pregnant, then you have a long time to wait still.

In that time, make sure you find good homes for all the babies. You should probably research how to gender guinea pigs, because you *must* seperate the males from Mom at 21 days so they don't breed with her and make inbred babies. The father must be seperated before the birth as well, because backbreeding is very dangerous and causes alot of stress on the female.

Remember that there's a 20% chance the mother and the babies will die. Please do not breed them again, there are enough homeless pigs as it is.

  4. It sounds like she is pregnant. The plug you are talking about could be her mucus plug. I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding your question. If they were bred two weeks ago, she should be just about due. I'm guessing, as I really don't know the gestation of Guinea Pigs. If her belly is getting bigger and she is nesting, she will be having babies soon though. I'm guessing the plug is the mucus plug. Once that drops she will have her babies. Make sure you keep the vet in the loop!

  5. definatly pregnet, and guinea pigs do not go into heat. In another 2 weeks she should be due! Congrats!=)
