I would rather skip taking him to the vet because of financial issues. So if there is anything else I can do to make him better that would be great

  1. You shouldn't have a pet if you cannot afford vet's bills.

Sorry, but that's the way it is

  2. he HAS to go to the vet. either take financial responcibility in FULL for all your animals or DONT KEEP THEM! im sure that petsave would take them...

  3. They have to eat constantly because of their teeth that grow all the time. They are prone to respiratory issues. I know how financial issues could make you want to avoid the doctor but if you don't go I think it would be very hurtful to him

  4. You really don't give us much information... runny eyes could be due to a variety of things...are there any other symptoms? How has its behavior changed, if at all?   is s/he moving around or lethargic, or lying down? is it pooping, and if so, what is it like?

Pick up your guinea pig and examine it well, besides the eyes, check it all over: run your hand over its body to check its skin and fur for cuts, rashes, insects. When you run your fingers over its body...does it seem to feel any pain? Check its feet, ears, mouth and a**s...any thing unusual? Is it too hot...do you think it has a fever?  Does is make any noise when you do this?  Has the amount of noise it usually makes changed?

How are you sure it hasn't eaten anything or drunk any water? (do you say this because you haven't seen it do so, or because the food and water look untouched?) Two days not ingesting anything isn't good...  so you should do whatever you can to get it to eat and drink: make sure the water container is cleaned daily, maybe put some water in a shallow dish so it is easy to drink from if your guinea pig is weak, maybe put some water on your finger tip and rub its mouth to encourage it to l**k a little.  As for food, offer it a variety of foods...not just guinea pig pellets... all kinds of veggies etc. that might tempt it to eat.

Make sure the cage is in a good location, not too hot or cold, not drafty.  If it looks cold, put in a towel over it...

Finally, when you took the guinea pig into your home, you also took on the responsibility to care for it.  So please if this condition continues, seek help for it  ASAP or it could die.
