  1. There could be a skin fungus and/or mange mites.  You need to get the piggy to a vet to get it taken care of.  Make sure they are knowledgeable about guinea pigs -- like an exotics vet.

Mites are microscopic and under the skin, they are very very itchy and end up being downright painful and can kill a pig.

Please make a vet appointment ASAP, and see http://www.guinealynx.info for more information on medical care for your cavy.

  2. it sounds lyk flea dirt???

thats wat it is on dogs

  3. sounds like fleas.  you'll need to take your little pig to the vet or at least call them.

the types of flea killers you buy in the store and use on dogs and cats can be dangerous to a guinea pig.  you'll also want to treat your home or the fleas will return to your pig after treatment from the vet.

you do not want to ignore this.  fleas can make a little pig anemic quickly and can kill them.

  4. Black dust kind of sounds like flea dirt/eggs to me.  But it could also be mites or lice..  If you take her to the vet, the vet can treat her for all of those (You use the same stuff which will kill any kind of hair-parasite) and her fur should grow back soon.  :)

  5. we have a guinea pig that went through the same thing...it was a fungus that guinea pigs catch and some ways of treating it are to buy special bedding it isnt expensive it is called Critter Care odor control and it is brown and you can usually buy it at your pet store or we get it at wal-mart. You can also buy vitamins to put in its water which will turn its water kind of yellow put it will help your guinea pig. Also buy a vitamin called Tea Tree Oil that you rub all over its body, it soothes the itching and helps heal the scabs and will take away the black dust in your guinea pigs' fur. It is also good to bathe your GP in warm water with soft puppy shampoo mixed with Tea Tree Oil.

  6. It sounds like it might be fleas. I would take her to the vet, to find out for sure tho. Good luck!

  7. take her to the vet asap

  8. if you wash him or her then maybe you should change his shampoo or dont wash at all but if you dont wash them, then i recommend you to take him to the vet            wish you luck
