My guinea pig has spots and is sneezing

my guinea pig had an swollen upper eyelid i found two spots on the eyelid i used an ointment the infalmation has now gone down he has also is been sneezing for a couple of mounts he eats and drinks perfectly well whats is the best way to treat him without spending to much on a vet

  1. You won't spend too much at the vet to get the sneeze treated. It's most likely caused by a URI, or Upper Respiratory Infection. He has to go to a vet for treatment, left untreated URIs are fatal. The medication is going to be one of two antibiotics, Bactrim or Baytril. Neither should be very expensive. He should also be given a probiotic to be given along with it. I learned this the hard way, my first guinea pig died during a treatment with Baytril for his URI. I learned afterwards that he should have been given a probiotic with it, and that he passed away due to an intolerance to the medication. Good luck!


  2. Your guinea pig most likely has mites and URI. You need to find a vet or he will die. There is no suitable home remedies for his illnesses.
