Question:

My guinea pig is acting strange...?

My guinea pig, Mocha, is around 4 years old. She's always been really squeaky and a little bit fidgety and hesitant, but lately she's been basically freaking out. Anytime I put my hand in her cage she pretty much runs to the back and I have to give her some kale to get her to come towards me again. She also starts running around when there's a sudden noise on the TV or the phone ringing, etc. but she never used to. Is this just because she is getting old or could she be irritated by something else?

  1. well i dont know if you hold your guinea pig alot because if you dont it might be loosing trust towards you but if you do always hold it you might want to go to the vet or your guinea pig is old and you still might want to see a vet.

  2. age could b a factor if ni\ot take it to an exotic animal vet

  3. i think that its just because she has herd a huge noise and is now abit scared

  4. Have you looked her over carefully including her eyes?

  5. Maybe something happened to scare her recently?  Has there been a change in her environment?  New people or animals?  It could be that she's freaked out and stressed out by something, or it could be some weird phase.  My sisters pigs will be super lazy for the longest time and then suddenly go all wacky.
