My guinea pig is on her side, can't walk.

I took her out of her cage and she won't walk and can't get up.

She still shakes her head and makes movement.

She seems colder then usual.

She is 7 years old.

But yesterday she got a lot of intereaction with humans.

Did we scare her to make her go to this point.

It almost seems like shes paralzyed.

She blinks too and I think she can movie her legs up and down.

She can make noises too.

I am forcing her to drink little water to keep her from dehydration.

I have a warm towel over her body then wrapped her up in a regular non wet towel over the wet towel.

Shes right next to me.

I can't leave her to die.

I change her towels every 5 minutes...

HELP what do I do to save her or make her comfortable?!

  1. Make her a little bed of cotton or tissues somthing fluffy, 8 yrs is about the life expectancy...im sorry but I think she may pass away )'= Hope you take it easy when she does, im so sorry. Just stay with her until then, I know how you feel my rat recently passed away. I currently have 3 rats and 2 guinea pigs. Good luck

  2. you should provably contact your local vet!

but ild say by the sounds of it your guinea pig is probably going to dye.

im sorry that i cant be much more help.

but your vet is the only person that could help the poor little thing.

  3. Sounds like you're doing everything you can. Make sure her time left on earth is as painless as possible. Give her lots of love, but don't pink her up too much. Just pet her gently.

Take her to the vet, maybe she's just sick and not dying.

Good luck to you and her, and give her a nice pet for me.

  4. It sounds like something is definitely wrong.  If you can't go to an emergency vet keep her warm and allow her to rest.  A 7 year old guinea pig is an old guinea pig, it's possible she is just shutting down mostly from old age.  I would take her to the vet in the morning.  Watch out with giving her water you don't want it going into her lungs if she is not swallowing.  Keep checking on her, good luck!

  5. A trip to a vet seems logical.

Not to be mean, but honestly, if it's that bad off, what are we supposed to do?

  6. I dont know much about guinea pigs, but I do own 2 myself. What i do know, is your Guinea pig is farely old. Guinea pigs usually live to be 4 or 5, and up to 8 years. This could just be her dying of old age.

This is probably the case, and I reccomend keeping her as comfortable as possible. Make her last moments, the best possible that you can. Call a small animal doctor, search through nthe phonebook. They may also have good advice.

It seems like you care alot about her, and she has had a good life. I hope she ends up ok, but if not, im glad you where good enough to keep her comfortable. Good luck with her.

  7. sorry to say but shes dying of old age, all guinea pigs do this, if you take her to the vet they will just put her down, just stay with her and make sure she isnt on her own, could be another 3-4 hours shes like that for

    take care

  8. Piggies can go into shock....keep her warm, not wet....

Hot water bottle is good, wrap it in a towel.....don't want to burn her.

No heating pads, unless you wrap it in a towel and put it under her cage..on low setting.

I would take her to the vet a.s.a.p.

Give her a few drops of water from an eye dropper....every couple hours...be careful, she could choke, so just a drop at a time.  I had this happen to my g. pig, but she came out of it in a few hours....she was scared of our dog.

  9. there are way too many possible causes to determine. It could be anything from a clogged windpipe due to swallowing something foreign to a seizure.

You NEED to GET her to a VET NOW!!!

Pick her up and walk to the vet, walk inside, and START CRYING!!!

Beg and Beg for the vet to take a look at her and tell them you have no money, they will do it out of embarrasment.

I hope you get there in time!

    Good Luck!

  10. You're doing the right thing!  She is very old for a guinea pig.  Most do not live past 4 or 5 years old.  She has had a good life with you, and even though it's sad, you're helping to make her death as pain-free as possible.  Sorry that you have to deal with this on your birthday!!

  11. well clearly shes dying theres not much u can do...my hamster died at about 10:36pm today well i noticed wen i got home and i didnt get 2 say goodbuy so consider yurself lucky
