  1. Check and make sure the tip is clean so it feeds properly, or, like the first answerer said, get a heavy bowl that the gp can't turn over..

  2. PUT A DISH WITH WATER IN THERE.  A SMALL ANIMAL DISH.

  3. A lot of pigs won't use a bowl, though you can try it. It will get nasty quick so you'd have to change it several times a day.

However, I would be very worried about his teeth. It's not normal to have issue drinking from a water bottle. You need to go to a cavy knowledgable vet and have them checked out with proper dental equipment. You can't do this at home, unfortunately. There is special equipment they use to check those back molars that we can't see.

  4. Check the sipper tube on the bottle to make sure the mechanism is working properly.

If you have the type of bottle with a spring loaded ball, get one with a free-floating ball. Sometimes the spring is too tight and the piggie has a hard time pushing the ball back to release the water. If you have a tube with the little metal stick at the end, throw it away and get a free-floating ball. Guinea pigs do not have the oral dexterity required to operate this type of mechanism.

If your water bottle tube is working fine, I second what MemphisGal said--- your piggie may have a dental issue that needs attention. Guinea pigs usually do fine with drinking from the bottle.

  5. No, definitely don't get a water bowl. Guinea pigs have a habit of urinating in it or just plain ignoring it, they never stay clean and they never like them. Check the bottle yourself, push gently against the spout and see if water comes out. If it does, give him time and he'll get the hang of it! If no water is coming out, go out and buy a new bottle for him.

  6. Get a heavy ceramic bowl and use that as a water bowl. Its good to get a heavy one so your pet would not tip it over, make sure you change it every day.
