  1. Guinea pigs bite. Just get to know her a bit more. Try not to seem intimidating when you pick her up. Always make sure your guinea pig is looking at you, and that you're at their level when picking them up. Spend more time with your guinea pig, and hold her a lot. Don't hold food, and than pick her up. She'll smell the food on your fingers, and try to bite them. Also, don't hold food and your guinea pig at the same time.

There is not much you can do. It's not because she doesn't like you - she is just frightened or thinks you have food.

    Good luck!

  2. It shouldn't. I've owned guinea-pigs for the last 8 years and never been bitten. They were trained out of it centuries ago when they were farmed for food. Try being slow but firm in your actions when you go to pick it up and make sure your hands don't smell strange.

  3. did you feed him just before handling him as your hands might of tasted yummy to him

  4. Before you approach the cage, start talking quietly. Then show your hand and hold out a small, tasty treat. Do this for a few days and they will start looking forward to your visits because it will mean treats. After a few days, stroke and then attempt to pick them up. Put one hand under their chest just behind their front legs and lift. Then put a hand under their bottom and support firmly and lift out of the enclosure. Sit on the floor and place the piggie on a blanket and speak and stroke softly feeding some treats.

If he bites DO NOT "pat" him or anything like that. The guinea pig will respond by biting more and become more stressed and frightened. DO NOT place him back in to the cage immediately because he will make a connection in his brain that biting you will get him back into the cage where he feels safe.

Guinea pigs may smell food on fingers and may l**k them to see if they are. They never bite things first to explore, only when they feel threatened. And having enough things to chew on doesn't make a guinea pig want to chew on your fingers, but it is important to give them something to chew on like a piece of wood or toilet or towel paper tubes. Also, unfortunately, biting is still a trait, but somewhat of a rare one as only one in four-hundred guinea pigs bite regularly.

When you leave, place a blanket on half of the cage and leave quietly. Here is a website that tells more about how to break the biting habit. Good luck! =D

  5. ola he asks for its suitcase which he te answers back everything that vc if he may want www.malakairesponde.blogspot.com

  6. i dont think your guinea pig likes you very much

  7. Make sure he has enough materials to chew on, and that he isn't just trying to relieve his teeth.

Also whenever he bites you lightly blow on his face, dont flick him on the nose, or tap or anything, just blow in his face, all Rodents despise that just like cats.

Also make sure he isn't starving and has enough food, and when you pick him up, hold a leaf of lettuce in your hand, so that you will bite it instead of you fingers.

Eventually he gain your trust, and realize that you are not food.

Make sure you are also picking him up right, and that he doesn't think your a predator, and he's not doing it in self deffence.

  8. U might just be handling him a little 2 roughly

    Dont worry itll b ok

  9. Well remember to be gentle when petting him, but if he bites you randomly (mine did once), then just gentlely tap his nose. My friend had this rabbit that bit and when she did that her bunny never bit her again, it also worked when my guinea pig peed on me and nipped my arm. :)

  10. your guinea pig doesnt really like you and has learned that biting keeps you away. if hes not neutered, do it and he'll be happier! next time he bites blow him in the face and he'll learn that biting follows with an unpleasant experience. NEVER HIT YOUR GUINEA PIG!!! but i would get him neutered and then go from there

  11. if it just bites you for no reason im guesing its when you pick them up then either you dont pick them up properly or they just dont like being handled or if its when you  pet them then they  dont like you petting them!!  but whatever you do dont just ditch them because of this thas just as bad as your mum ditching you because you dont eat broccoli!!

  12. Have you read http://www.cavyspirit.com/biting.htm ?

  13. Don't worry, that's normal. When did you get the guinea pig? If it was really soon, that's super normal. If it was a long time ago maybe you need to spend more time with the guinea pig.
