My guinea pig keeps making a squeaking sound, what does it mean?

I've had him for 2 days now and he has been very quiet, not really eating or drinking. Now all of a sudden, I get home from work, and I notice he's squeaking A LOT! I currently have him on my shoulder as I'm typing, and he keeps squeaking, he's also suddenly very active and sort of eating, but still not drinking.

What does it all mean? I would compare the squeaking to the sound cheese curds make when you chew them in your mouth.

Well now you've found out what some guinea pigs like to do best: talk. He's just talking (squeaking, whatever you want to call it). Some like to squeak a lot and others are quieter. I've owned several different guinea pigs and a few seemed to squeaked nonstop. It's perfectly normal.

As for eating and drinking, give him time. They're like that when they are new. He'll notice his food and water in a few days. =]

My guinea pig did the EXACT same thing, let me explain. At first Gentille (my guinea pig's name) was very sleepy and wouldn't do anything. Then out of the blue, start randomly squeeling all the time exept when it was sleeping. The thing is it's guinea pigs get a bit stressed when you change there environment, from pet store to your home. So usually it will do nothing, in other words it's sad. Then it will become normal again. In the case of our gerbils squeaking constintally, it's not something bad at all, my guinea pig live 4 yrs and squeaked every single day nonstop (it was annoying though, especially when I was watching tv). Noe the "weird squeaking" is just his voice. Ex: in humans your guinea pig will be a talker that wouldn't shut it and has an annoying voice.

either she's learned to get your attention like a ratteling plastic bag means lettuce for mine or she is experiencing pain (less likely), watch what you do when he squeals. Mine  squeal when they are out of something like water they wait to hear my voice and if they are out of water squeeeeeeeeeeeeeek big time til they get my attention, oh and the water.

It means that he's a guinea pig! That's how they talk. Try leaning some guinease and make your own squeaking sounds, he will talk back to you!
